Ideal weight for men and women is subjective and strongly dependent on calorie intake, nutritional habits, level of daily activity and general overall fitness.
But the measurements of ideal weight and frame size together with the Body Mass Index calculation are good tools to work with in order to determine an estimate for your ideal weight. The calculated figures generated with the BMI formula are not accurate, but intended as a guide, in some cases they are better not used. For example, a very muscular sporty person can, using the BMI formula, fall into the overweight category simply because he/she has an above average amount of muscle. The calculation is also not accurate for pregnant/breastfeeding women, or people with disabilities or infirmities.
BMI calculations are intended for the average person with an average level of fitness. In the case of e.g. Body Builders, it can make more sense to determine the Body Fat/ Lean Body Mass Percentage to achieve a more realistic result.

These tables take the gender of a person into account. Unlike some BMI tables they allow for a difference in the differences in form and build from male to female.
